RPP to stay neutral in Koshi province: Chairman Lingden

BIRATNAGAR, August 1: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has said that the RPP will stay neutral in Koshi Province. Speaking to reporters at the Biratnagar Airport today, Chairman Lingden said that the RPP will remain neutral in the formation of the government in Koshi Province.

BIRATNAGAR, August 1: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has said that the RPP will stay neutral in Koshi Province. Speaking to reporters at the Biratnagar Airport today, Chairman Lingden said that the RPP will remain neutral in the formation of the government in Koshi Province.


Chairman Lingden said that he has repeatedly requested the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML to form a government together and made it clear that the RPP will not be part of the Koshi government immediately. Lingden said, “We are being neutral in the government formation of Koshi for now.” He also said that according to the Constitution, many articles for government formation are yet to be used in Koshi Province. He added that only if the RPP becomes decisive will the necessary decision be made after discussion in the party.

He said that preparations are being made to form the government according to Article 168 (2) of the Constitution, and Article 168(3) and  Article 168(5) are yet to be implemented. “Only after reaching the last stage of forming the government in accordance with Article 168(5) , will the RPP decide to support the other parties and regarding sharing of  power,” he said, “ Right now, RPP remains neutral in Koshi government formation.”  In Koshi Province which has 93 members, the ruling coalition has 47 votes including the speaker. In Koshi Provincial Assembly, there are 29 members from Nepali Congress, 13 members from CPN (Maoist Center), one member from JSP and four members from CPN (Unified Socialist). The CPN-UML led coalition has 46 members, 40 members  from the CPN-UML and six members from the RPP.
