NC took the decision to remain neutral as the Madhav Kumar Nepal led-faction of CPN UML decided to support CM Bhatta.

“If CM Bhatta garners a majority vote with the support of the Nepal led-faction of UML, we will remain neutral,” said Tek Bahadur Raila, NC’s whip. “We will vote only if CM Bhatta cannot garner majority votes,” he added.

Earlier, the Nepal led-faction of the UML had decided to support CM Bhatta through a parliamentary meeting. However, the PM KP Sharma Oli led-faction has decided to vote against CM Bhatta.
