Restricted area around govt offices lifted in Surkhet

SURKHET, Aug 22: The District Administration Office, Surkhet on Saturday lifted restricted zone declared around government offices after 12 days.

The local administration on August 11 had declared restricted order after agitators demanding undivided mid-west and Surkhet as federal capital resorted to vandalism of government offices.

The demonstration came to end after all nine districts east of Karnali River were included in the sixth province according to the new federal map agreed by major three parties.


“We lifted prohibitory area after agitation ended,” Administrative Officer Hit Prasad Paudel at DAO, Surkhet said, “Works at government offices will resume from Sunday.”
