KATHMANDU, April 1: Editor of Republica English Daily Subhash Ghimire and senior journalist Hari Prasad Joshi have been awarded Madan Bhandari Memorial Award on Sunday.
Prime Minister KP Oli presented the award to Ghimire and Joshi during the 21st founding anniversary of Reporters’ Club Nepal amid a function in the capital on Sunday.
Editor Ghimire awarded Madan Bhandari Memorial Award
The award carries a purse of Rs 100,000, which will be shared by the duo. The club decided to award Ghimire for his outstanding contribution to the enhancement of professional journalism in Nepal.
Similarly, Girija Prasad Koirala Memorial Award was awarded to editor-in-chief of Nepal Samacharpatra Pushkar Lal Shrestha. The award carries a purse of Rs 100,000. Executive Editor of the daily Dipak Rijal had received the award on Shrestha’s behalf.
Reporter’s Club also awarded Press Center Chairman Maheshwar Dahal with Krishna Sen Ichchhuk Memorial Award and Samjhana Ban with Uma Singh Memorial Journalism Award. The award carries a purse of Rs 50,000, which will be shared by the recipients.
Similarly, Martyr Jagat Jung Shah Memorial Journalism Award was presented to Dilli Basel and Kul Prasad-Chetkumari Dhamala Memorial Journalism Award to journalist Shiva Hari Ghimire of Nagarik Daily. The awards carry a purse of Rs 25,000 each.
