KATHMANDU, Jan 6: Lawmakers elected to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly from Kalikot district have demanded that the Chief Minister of the Province no. 6 should be a representative from Karnali region alone.
Speaking in the programme organised by Karnali Media Centre here on Saturday to extend congratulations and best wishes to the newly-elected lawmakers from Karnali region, House of Representatives member Durga Bahadur Rawat argued that the Chief Minister of province no 6 should be a representative from Karnali from the economic, social, political and natural perspective, among other reasons.

"Karnali has been continuously cheated by the past rulers. We will not compromise on the demands and issues of Karnali now. Only the representatives from Karnali know the hardships of Karnali. So, Karnali should be declared as a separate province," he said.
Province Assembly member Mahendra Bahadur Shahi said anyone among the lawmakers from the leftist alliance could be the Chief Minister of province-6 on the basis of agreement within the alliance.
President of Karnali Media Centre, Narayan Giri urged for fixing the capital of the province-6 taking into consideration the level of development in Karnali region.
