KATHMANDU, March 19: The Election Commission has submitted a report of the vice presidential election toPresident Ram Chandra Paudel.
Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav was elected as the vice president with 30,328 votes in the vice presidential election held on March 17.
In accordance with Section 60 of the President and Vice President Election Act, 2074, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapalia submitted the report to the president today at his official residence in Sheetal Niwas.

On the occasion, President Paudel said that under the provisions of Article 246 of the Constitution of Nepal, the main task of the commission is to conduct, supervise, direct and control the election of the president, vice president, members of the federal parliament, members of the provincial assembly, members of the local level. He thanked the commission for conducting the elections efficiently in a fair, independent and peaceful manner.
He mentioned that election is a beautiful aspect of democracy and democracy is maturing due to the successful completion of elections.
Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya congratulated President Paudel for holding the highest and dignified position of the country and holding an important responsibility after being elected on March 9.
He mentioned that this year is an election year and this cycle started with the election of 19 vacancies in the National Assembly on January 26, 2022 and was completed with the completion of the vice-presidential election on March 17. On behalf of the commission, he expressed his gratitude to the Government of Nepal, related agencies, political parties, candidates, voters and all parties for their support for holding the elections.
According to Article 67 of the Constitution of Nepal, the Vice President shall perform the duties of the president in his absence.
