Two arrested on charge of foreign employment fraud

KATHMANDU, Jan 27: Police have arrested two people on charges of defrauding foreign employment aspirants with promises of jobs in Canada and Japan, under the lure of attractive salaries.

KATHMANDU, Jan 27: Police have arrested two people on charges of defrauding foreign employment aspirants with promises of jobs in Canada and Japan, under the lure of attractive salaries. The arrested are Sharada Karki, 39, of Parsa, Parsagadhi Municipality-3 and residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32, and Rabin Shrestha, 30, of Gulmi Satyawati Rural Municipality-1 and residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-8.


Of the arrested, Karki allegedly took Rs 685,500 from five victims, promising them a job in Canada, and Shrestha allegedly took Rs 2.05 million from another victim, promising  to send him to Japan, and then disappeared. Police deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested Karki from Teku, Kathmandu, on Sunday and Shrestha from Kalopul, Kathmandu, on Friday.

Police have stated that Karki has been sent to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, for necessary investigation and action, while Shrestha has been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, Kathmandu.
