Ram Bahadur becomes first Nepal Champion

DHARAN, Sept 16: Thirty-nine- year old Ram Bahadur Dahal of Britamod Galaxy Fitness, Jhapa won the Nepal Champion title. The nation-wide contest was hosted in Dharan Sabhagriha, Dharan on Wednesday evening. 

Title winner Dahal received Rs 100,000 cash prize along with a fitness machine. He had entered the final round after winning gold in the 70 kg category. After winning the Nepal Champion, Dahal now plans to participate in the World Champion slated to be held in Spain. 

‘I am preparing relentlessly for it as I will be representing my country in the World Champion. I was able to come this far and win the trophy with the immense support from my family. My wife plays a major role in my success as she has always inspired me,” he said. 

Dahal, who has been training his body since 1988, has won many trophies previously. He has won Mister Himalaya in Dharan, Mister Bulls Men in Pokhara, Mister Budhasubba and Mister Sagarmatha. He was also conferred the Mister Nepal title in 2011 and 2016. 

Meanwhile, Ramesh Karki from Dharan, who won gold in the 60 kg weight category, was announced the first runner-up whereas Bikash Dhimal from Jhapa managed to secure the second runner-up title. Ramesh won Rs 50,000 while Bikash received Rs 40,000. 

Similarly, Mani Kumar Rai of Dharan Fitness Club was declared as Best Poser, Sukh Dev Karki from Kathmandu as Most Muscular and Sunil Ale from Butwal as Most Improver. All of them won a trophy and Rs 5,000 cash. 

As many as 22 participants from 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, and 70 kg category had reached the final round. Four winners from each category competed for the overall round.
