KATHMANDU, July 27 — Like other parts of the country, Kathmandu is also likely to experience rainfall today, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Clouds gather, heavy rain looms over Koshi and Bagmati
The department forecasts light to moderate rain in Kathmandu during the afternoon, evening, and night. Meteorologist Govinda Jha said that heavy rainfall could occur in one or two isolated areas of the Valley.
“There is a chance of light to moderate rain in Kathmandu this afternoon and evening,” he said. “Isolated areas may also see heavy, intermittent showers.”
Similar weather is expected today and tomorrow (July 28), Jha added. “The skies will remain cloudy, and scattered rainfall will continue,” he said.
Currently, monsoon winds are active over Nepal, with the monsoon trough positioned near the average location. “So far, the monsoon trough remains close to its normal position,” he said, “but it may shift closer and become more active.”
A low-pressure system has formed over Jharkhand in India, which is expected to affect Nepal on Sunday and Monday, bringing additional rainfall, Jha noted.
