KATHMANDU, Nov 30: The government of Qatar handed medical equipment to Nepal on Tuesday. As many as 50 units of ventilators were given to Nepal under the direction of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamal Al Thani to Nepal to fight against the risk of the coronavirus.


The medical equipment was handed over by the consular of Qatar’s embassy, Nasar Bin Dhanim Al-Dhanim Al-Madid to the joint secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Pawan Jung Rayamajhi at a program held in the capital today.

Speaking on the occasion, Consular Nasar Al-Madid said that Qatar will never back down from helping Nepal in its times of need in exchange for the merits done by Nepali people for Qatar and its citizens.


Thanking the government of Qatar for the medical equipment, Dr Rayamajhi said, “The Qatar government has always helped Nepal in its times of need. Nepal was able to stand against the pandemic with the help shown by the Qatar government since the start of the virus outbreak in 2020.” He also clarified that the ventilators provided by the government of Qatar will be handed over to government hospitals that are in dire need of them.  


Earlier, the Qatar government had provided medical supplies and equipment via a chartered flight as well as vaccines against COVID-19 under the COVAX program to Nepal.
