UK Government sends 260 ventilators to Nepal

LONDON, May 28: The Government of the United Kingdom has sent 260 ventilators and other medical supplies to Nepal.

LONDON, May 28: The Government of the United Kingdom has sent 260 ventilators and other medical supplies to Nepal.


According to the Embassy of Nepal in London, the United Kingdom has sent the medical supplies to Nepal at the request of the Government of Nepal for the prevention, control and treatment of the COVID pandemic in Nepal.

The plane carrying 19,200 face shields flew from the UK on Thursday, according to a statement issued by the Nepali embassy in London on Thursday. The Non-Resident Nepali Association UK chapter and the Nepali Embassy have also sent 10 oxygen concentrators via the aircraft.


The statement stated that the embassy is continuing its initiative to send additional medical supplies and vaccines to Nepal.


Lokdarshan Regmi, Nepali Ambassador to the UK, has requested the UK government to provide vaccines to Nepal under the COVAX facility as soon as possible. 


Earlier, the UK stated that it had allocated about 2 million free doses under COVAX, of which 348,000 doses had already been delivered to Nepal.
