KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The government has proposed extending the terms of the two commissions related to transitional justice in the National Assembly.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanaraj Gurung submitted the proposal to extend the terms of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission for Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons in the upper house of parliament in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers.

The minister informed the upper house that the Council of Ministers had agreed to extend the tenures of the two commissions bearing on July 4 considering the need to complete the remaining task of the peace process.
Meanwhile, National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina read out letters received from the Office of the President regarding the authentication of bills, formations of the Council of Ministers and the allocations of ministers' portfolios.
The National Assembly shall meet again at 1:01 pm on September 4.
