Resolution proposal presented in National Assembly

KATHMANDU, June 2: A resolution proposal on the implementation of federalism has been tabled in the National Assembly under the Federal Parliament.


The proposal that was registered by the members of parliament from the ruling as well as opposition parties in the assembly was tabled by National Assembly Member Khimlal Devkota in parliament. National Assembly member Khim Lal Devkota was the proposer while Jitendra Narayan Dev, Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami, Nanda Chapai, Pramila Kumari and Devendra Dahal were the seconders of the 15-point resolution.


The parliamentary committee for the study and monitoring of the implementation of federalism has been deemed necessary for an in-depth study of federalism, in the resolution proposal. It is also mentioned that the resolution proposal has been submitted on the basis of the study of all the provinces and some municipalities.

While presenting the resolution, Devkota said that the purpose of the resolution proposal was to ensure that the three levels of government respect the boundaries within their jurisdiction as provided by the constitution. 


He said that the resolution also aims to ensure that other levels of government do not build institutional structures parallel to the jurisdiction of the local level.


Similarly, he also said that the provinces should not increase the number of ministries haphazardly.
