KATHMANDU, July 11: The government has decided to extend the terms of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP) by one year.

A cabinet meeting held on Thursday at Singh Darbar decided to extend the terms of both the commissions until July 2025 through a supplementary order to remove the obstacles.

The meeting also decided to postpone the decision to implement the national identity card for receiving social security allowances for the time being. Minister for Information and Communication Technology Rekha Sharma informed that the meeting decided to instruct the Ministry of Home Affairs to take the initiative not to implement it for the time being, as it will be difficult for citizens receiving social security allowances to get national identity cards due to floods and landslides in various parts of the country.

Minister Sharma, who is also the government's spokesperson, said that the meeting also decided to approve the Local Level Revenue Management System Operation Guideline, 2081 BS. Additionally, the cabinet meeting decided to approve the Government Fund Cash Management Procedure, 2081 BS.
