BARDIYA, March 31: Professors and lecturers at the Guransh Multiple Campus went on strike from Thursday onwards and stopped attending classes as part of their protest against the campus management which has failed to provide them salaries in the past five months due to financial crunch.
The students of the campus based in Madhuban Municipality have been affected after the professors' boycott.
Campus Chief Maniram Tiwari said 13 professors and four staff members were yet to receive five months' salaries amounting to a total of Rs 1.3 million.
More than 150 students have been affected by the strike. The campus management is currently facing a financial crunch due to which it is unable to provide the due salaries.
Campus Board Chairman, Tanka Adhikari, attributed the financial crisis to weak internal source of income. The Madhuban Municipality has pledged support but it is yet to allocate the budget for the campus.
The problem surfaced also after the campus management took the decision to use the money reserved in its trust for construction of necessary infrastructure after a delay in the dispatch of money from the municipal office. The Campus is affiliated with the Tribhuvan University (TU). RSS
