CHITWAN, June 10: The prisoners of district jail are suffering from skin ailments which are caused by the increased summer temperatures.
According to Lekhnath Paudel, senior health assistant of the jail, some 300 of the inmates in the prison have skin diseases. He said that because of the confined area inside jail, problems such as ringworm and piles were observed due to sweating.
Clear, smooth skin
He said that this problem has been increasing for 15 days. He said, "It seems that this problem can spread further."
He said that with the increase in heat, the problem of skin and diarrhea has appeared.
He said that now 25 people are suffering from diarrhea. He said that the prison administration is working on internal management to prevent this.
There are 740 prisoners in the prison. There are 693 inmates in the men's jail with a capacity of 255 people and 47 inmates in the women's jail with a capacity of 25 people. Kamal Prasad Acharya, head of the jail, said that there are four childrens with them.
