KATHMANDU, March 7: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has decided to hold its protest in Balkhu on Tuesday as per the directive from the District Administration Office (DAO) Kathmandu.
Although the administration had suggested holding the protest in either Balkhu or Siphal, the RPP chose Balkhu. RPP Spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha said that they had to change the venue as local administration refused to grant permission to stage the protest at Bhrikuti Mandap, citing security concerns.

Shrestha stated, “The RPP's Bagmati Province-level protest and mass assembly, which was initially planned for Bhrikuti Mandap on April 8, will now take place in Balkhu. The venue had to be changed after the administration denied permission for Bhrikuti Mandap due to security reasons.”
Earlier, on April 4, the RPP had informed the District Administration Office via email about their planned protest at Bhrikuti Mandap in the afternoon. However, after a meeting of the District Security Committee, it was decided to grant permission for the gathering at either Balkhu or Siphal grounds instead of Bhrikuti Mandap. The District Administration Office communicated this decision to the RPP in writing. Following this, the RPP chose Balkhu as the new venue for their protest.
The RPP protest has received support from the Joint People's Movement Committee (JPMC). In a press release issued yesterday, the committee's acting coordinator, Jagman Gurung, expressed their support for the RPP's movement. Gurung also called for active participation in the upcoming protests aimed at reinstating the monarchy.
