KATHMANDU, Feb 21: Criticizing President Dr Ram Baran Yadav´s recent activities, Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) Kamal Thapa on Thursday accused him of playing second fiddle to the four-parties.

Addressing an interaction organized by Reporters´ Club-Nepal in the capital, Chairman Thapa alleged that President Dr Yadav was making Shital Niwas an office of the four major parties. [break]

“The president can not resolve the current deadlock by becoming a leader of some one dozen incompetent leaders,” Thapa said. “He should try to resolve the deadlock by holding meeting with all the political parties represented in the erstwhile Constituent Assembly.”

Thapa also argued that parties should unconditionally allow chief justice to hold fresh Constituent Assembly election by mid-June. Arguing that chief justice won´t be able to hold polls under the conditions set by the parties, Thapa argued that parties should not hesitate to unconditionally allow him to head the election government.

While asking parties not to disturb the environment of consensus by raising the issue of separation of powers, Thapa argued that the principle is not at work in Nepal at present as there is no functioning parliament.

Thapa said current the Baburam Bhattarai-led government must step down to pave the way for holding fresh election.
