One of the most intriguing wedding traditions around the world is the Polteraband ceremony in Germany. Before the wedding ceremony is held, both the bride and groom’s family and close relatives gather for an event. All the guests are asked to break pottery and porcelain dishes. The more the broken pieces of pottery and porcelain dishes, the more the couples are blessed. That includes breaking dinner plates, vase, and tiles.  However, they do avoid breaking glasses due to its symbolism of happiness. After all the guests are done breaking the things, the couple is left to clean up the mess. This tradition signifies that the couple can work through anything and sort any mess in their lives together.
