Police to transfer Rabi Lamichhane to Kathmandu at 5:30 pm

Lamichhane is expected to be questioned in Kathmandu regarding the alleged embezzlement of funds from Subarna Lakshmi Cooperative. He was previously taken to Butwal for questioning and later returned to Kaski.

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The District Police Range (DPR), Kathmandu is set to bring Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, currently in custody at the District Police Office (DPO), Kaski, on charges of cooperative fraud, to Kathmandu on Thursday.


According to a senior official from the Kathmandu Valley Police Office (KVPO), Rani Pokhari, arrangements are being made to transfer former Home Minister Lamichhane to the capital by air at around 5:30 pm.

“Lamichhane is set to be brought to Kathmandu at 5:30 pm and he will be kept at the DPR Office, Bhadrakali,” an official from the DPR said, “The investigation into his alleged involvement in a cooperative fraud will be initiated tomorrow after we get an order for his judicial custody from the Kathmandu District Court.” 


Earlier, plans to bring Lamichhane to Kathmandu on Tuesday were postponed due to adverse weather conditions. Following the delay, the transfer was scheduled for Thursday.


Lamichhane is expected to be questioned in Kathmandu regarding the alleged embezzlement of funds from Swarna Lakshmi Cooperative. He was previously taken to Butwal for questioning and later returned to Kaski.


The Kathmandu District Court issued an arrest warrant against Lamichhane on November 16 for his alleged involvement in the embezzlement of funds from the cooperative.
