Transfer, promotion of police personnel cannot be done outside criteria: Home Minister Lamichhane

KATHMANDU, Dec 30: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has said that he will take action if he finds out that the police officers approach the politicians asking for transfer and promotion. Lamichhane, who reached the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, said that the transfer and promotion of police personnel cannot be done outside the criteria.

KATHMANDU, Dec 30: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has said that he will take action if he finds out that the police officers approach the politicians asking for transfer and promotion. Lamichhane, who reached the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, said that the transfer and promotion of police personnel cannot be done outside the criteria.


He visited the police headquarters for the first time after becoming the home minister and said, "The trend of going to the houses of the politicians seeking transfer and promotion will be stopped."

He also said that those who do good work will be rewarded and those who act contrary to the conduct of police will be punished. He said, "No matter what happened in the past, I will put an end to the distortion and anomaly so that no one does illegal activities in the future."


Stating that he understands the distortions in the police force, he said, "If illegal activities are found, no one will listen." He also said that police services, facilities, rations and salary scales will all be reviewed.
