Das, who worked at Nobel Teaching Hospital, shifted to the rented room just a few months ago as it was located near the hospital. She had been staying in the rented room on the first floor of the house, which had an attached bathroom. The room served living, cooking, and bathroom facilities all in one space.

Stating that the dead body of Das was found in the toilet inside the room, Morang police spokesperson DSP Ranjan Kumar Dahal said, "It seems that she was raped and then killed." One side of Das’s neck is struck with a sharp weapon. Injuries were seen on various parts of the body including the neck and the face. The police received information about the incident only around 1 PM on Friday.

Looking at the nature of the incident, it seems that it happened on Thursday. Although the incident took place on Thursday, the police received the news only on Friday afternoon and the police reached the spot immediately, DSP Dahal said, "After killing Das, the killer left the body in the toilet and locked the door of the room from outside. We have started investigating the incident from various angles.”

As the family members of Das did not arrive, the body was not removed from the crime site. Stating that more details of the incident will come only after the post-mortem of the body, DSP Dahal said, "The identity of the person involved in the murder has not been revealed so far. The incident is being interrogated with the help of the hospital administration, friends, etc. As the investigation of the incident has already started, efforts are being made to identify those involved in the incident, and the culprit will be arrested soon.” The police said that the body will be sent for post-mortem only after the relatives arrive at the scene.
