KATHMANDU, June 9: Police on Tuesday arrested two individuals including an Indian national for their alleged involvement in producing and selling counterfeit hand sanitizers and cosmetic products.
Those arrested have been identified as Abdul Manan, 65, an Indian national, and Pradip Upadhyay Luitel, 33, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14.

Acting on a tip-off, the Metropolitan Police Crime Division raided their factory at Kathmandu-16 where it found counterfeit sanitizers and cosmetic products stored in the warehouse.
“The arrested have been sticking fake labels of different hand sanitizer brands on bottles. Police have seized a huge amount of counterfeit products from the factory,” said an official of the Crime Division.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, police have seized 3,290 liters of raw materials used to produce hand sanitizers. Likewise, police have also seized over 100 liters of hand sanitizers, fake stickers and labels, counterfeit cosmetic brands.
The Crime Division said that it is investigating the case.
