KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Police have detained a Nepali youth on the suspicion of being involved in betting on the ongoing match of ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 between Nepal and Scotland at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. He was arrested by the police from the ground.
According to SP Sanjay Singh Thapa, spokesperson for the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, a technical investigation is being conducted after arresting the man suspected of being involved in online betting in the match between Nepal and Scotland.
One arrested for over Rs 2 billion online betting
The police have not revealed the identity of the arrested person.
Scotland has posted a target of 275 runs for Nepal to win today’s match. At the time of the writing of this news report, Nepal had scored 31 runs in the second over at the loss of one wicket.
