PM Oli leaves for Azerbaijan (with video)

KATHMANDU, Oct 24: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has left for Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, today, leading a 21-member Nepali delegation to attend the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

KATHMANDU, Oct 24: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has left for Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, today, leading a 21-member Nepali delegation to attend the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).


National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwor Pokharel, Deputy-leader of Parliamentary Party of Nepal Communist Party Subash Chandra Nembang, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and NCP General Secretary Bishnu Poudel, among others bade farewell to Prime Minister Oli at VVIP longue of Tribhuvan International Airport. Ministers, high-ranking government officials, chiefs of security bodies and representatives of diplomatic missions were also present on the occasion.


A contingent of Nepal Army offered guard of honor to PM Oli on the occasion.

The two-day Summit is taking place from October 25.


The Nepali delegation includes Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Prime Minister's Chief Advisor Bishnu Rimal, Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr Rajan Bhattarai, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, and senior officers of the Foreign Ministry.


As a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement, Nepal has been actively participating in all NAM Summits since its inception in 1961.


Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to return home on October 27.
