KATHMANDU, July 2: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and Speaker of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova met today. The meeting took place on the sideline of a conference of the parliamentary network of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku, Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, Speaker Sapkota congratulated Azerbaijan for successfully organizing the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network Conference. Stating that the ideals of the non-aligned movement are important, he praised Azerbaijan's commitment to its ideals and agenda, according to the Personal Secretariat of Speaker Sapkota.

Speaker Sapkota expressed that global challenges could be resolved only through the efforts of international unity. Talking about Nepal's long-standing diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan, he thanked them for their assistance in the aftermath of the 2015 earthquake.
Similarly, Speaker Gafarova said that she is happy to welcome the delegation including the Speaker of Nepal to her country and thanked them for their participation and the address. Recalling a previous meeting of the Inter-Legislative Association in Spain, Gafarova said Azerbaijan's parliament is ready to form a parliamentary friendship group with Nepal.
Likewise, members of the Nepali delegation Pushpa Bhusal Gautam, Ram Chandra Rai and Sapkota’s Personal Secretary Govinda Pathak were present on the occasion. They are set to return home on Sunday.
