POKHARA, July 18: Central member of the Nepali Congress, Dr. Minendra Rijal, has argued that Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai announced the date of elections to the Constituent Assembly (CA) so as to stick to the government.

At a press meet organized by Nepal Press Union, Kaski on Wednesday, Rijal said that the Prime Minister fixed the date of election for November 22 unilaterally though there are legal and constitutional obstructions to hold new elections.[break]

He added that Prime Minister Bhattarai wants to extend the tenure of the government by postponing the election date.

Rijal said that new constitution should be written by resolving the remaining disputed issues through the new elections from conclusions drawn through national consensus.
