NEPALGUNJ, May 11: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala has said the processes of peace building and constitution drafting will be accomplished in the stipulated time if Maoists are honest to that end.

At a press conference organized on Wednesday by Nepal Press Union, Banke, President Koirala further said, ‘It is inevitable to bring the peace process to logical end first to protect constitution’.[break]

Arguing that it will merely a foolish move to seek political outlet by marginalizing the NC, leader Koirala reiterated commitment that his party is ready to abide by any conditions at the cost of promulgating democratic constitution.

The NC will always stand up against any kinds of discussion and dialogue held by sidelining democratic norms and values since pluralism is the oxygen of democracy, Koirala asserted.

‘I do not compromise with any force regarding the fundamental values of democracy; rather will be ready to pay any cost’, he articulated.

On queries, President Koirala replied that the partisan consensus and accords have been relegated to the backburner when Maoists failed to make a solid foundation of political trust.

He further added, ‘NC is ever positive to the issue of entering Maoist combatants into security bodies. But it should be individual entry rather not mass as per the standards set by the Nepal Army’.
