KATHMANDU, Aug 13: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has initiated the hearing process for ambassadors for 17 countries.
A meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Pashupati Shamsher Jabara, the senior member of the PHC, decided to call for complaints against the proposed ambassadors through a public notice within 10 days.

The government has recommended to appoint Dr Shankar Sharma (India), Prada Krishna Prasad Oli (China), Lok Darshan Regmi (US), Chandra Kumar Ghimire (UK), Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe (South Korea), Dhan Prasad Pandit (Israel), Ram Krishna Bhattarai (Sri Lanka) and Rita Dhital (Pakistan) as resident Nepali ambassadors.
Similarly, the government recommended Naresh Bikram Dhakal (Saudi Arabia), Prada Kapil Man Shrestha (South Africa), Sanil Nepal (Spain), Dr Shail Rupakheti (Germany), Janga Bahadur Chauhan (Russia), Ramesh Chandra Paudel (Qatar), Sumnima Tuladhar (Denmark), Dr Netra Prasad Timilsina (Malaysia) and Prakash Mani Pokharel (Portugal) as ambassadors.
As per Article 292 of the Constitution of Nepal, there is a provision that parliamentary hearings should be conducted for those recommended for the posts of ambassadors.
