KATHMANDU, August 1: Five complaints have been filed against six ambassadors proposed for different countries.
Nirmala Devi Lamichhane of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) said that five complaints have been filed at the PHC against six ambassadors recommended by the government for various countries and diplomatic missions.
According to her, one complaint which lacks necessary requirements has also been received. But it has not been counted as a complaint. According to her, the complaints have been filed collectively.

The meeting of the PHC held on July 19 had decided to request one and all to file the complaints within 10 days. The PHC meeting was held on Tuesday to discuss the complaints received.
After studying the complaints, the committee will discuss it with the complainant. Then there will be a parliamentary hearing for the proposed ambassador.
The government decided to appoint Lok Bahadur Thapa as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations in New York. Similarly, Tej Bahadur Chhetri has been appointed as the Ambassador of Nepal to the UAE, Ghanashyam Lamsal to Kuwait, Dhan Bahadur Oli to Thailand, Sudhir Bhattarai to France and Ram Prasad Subedi to Geneva.
There is a constitutional provision that the ambassador-nominees recommended by the government are appointed by the President after PHC approval.
