KATHMANDU, Oct 19: Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire was informed on Saturday afternoon about the arrest of Member of Parliament (MP) Rabi Lamichhane on Friday evening.
According to a statement issued by Padma Prasad Pandey, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the District Police Office in Kaski provided this information in written form to the Speaker on Saturday.

“Lamichhane, elected from Chitwan Constituency-2, was arrested in accordance with the arrest warrant issued by the Kaski District Court as part of the investigation into criminal offenses”, the statement read.
Article 103 (6) of the Constitution of Nepal states, "If any member is arrested, the authority making such arrest shall forthwith give information thereof to the person presiding over the concerned House.”
Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane was arrested from the party’s central office in Kathmandu on Friday evening for a police investigation into his alleged involvement in embezzlement of funds from the Surya Darshan Cooperative in Kaski.
Lamichhane, along with the founder chairman of Surya Darshan Cooperative, Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai, is being investigated by the Kaski District Police Office for illegally funneling funds from the cooperative into the Gorkha Media Network.
