KATHMANDU, Oct 13: A total of 63,242 passengers traveled via Tribhuvan International Airport over the two days of Bada Dashain.
On October 10 (Phulpati) and October 12 (Maha Ashtami/Maha Nawami), more than 63,000 people traveled by air, including both domestic and international flights.
237,000 people traveled by air during Dashain
According to Tribhuvan International Airport spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, a total of 31,765 passengers traveled on domestic flights. On October 10, as many as 17,329 passengers traveled on 301 domestic flights and on October 12, 14,436 passengers traveled on 278 flights.
Similarly, on the international side, a total of 31,477 passengers traveled on October 10 and 11. On October 10, 16,509 passengers traveled on 107 flights, and on October 11, 14,968 passengers traveled on the same number of flights. This total includes both arrivals and departures, according to the airport office.
Earlier, on September 30, a total of 559 flights, including both domestic and international, were conducted in a single day. Through these flights, 35,704 passengers traveled on that day. The pressure on air travel increased due to continuous rainfall on September 27 and 28, which caused floods and landslides, disrupting road networks in various parts of the country.
After the increase in both domestic and international flight pressure at Tribhuvan International Airport, the terminal building was packed with passengers. However, the airport office has reported that flights are gradually returning to normal. There was a surge in air travel on September 29, September 30, October 1 and October 2.
