KATHMANDU, Oct 22: Barely three months after being ousted from power, the CPN (Maoist Center) is set to hold a mass rally, described as a "warning assembly," in Kathmandu later this week.

The main opposition party, led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has announced that the "warning assembly" will take place in the capital on October 26 to protest the government's wrongdoings and to draw attention to urgent tasks that need to be addressed.

Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal informed a joint meeting of the Bagmati and Special Province Coordination Committees, along with the heads of the party’s sister organizations, held at the party’s central office in Paris Danda on Tuesday, that the party's top leadership has decided to hold the rally. He also instructed all committees to begin preparations for the assembly.

The Maoist Center has stated that the warning assembly will address the government's insensitivity, irresponsibility, and lack of planning in disaster management. This includes issues related to searching for the missing, distributing relief, treating the injured, constructing temporary shelters, and challenges in reconstruction and rehabilitation. The assembly aims to counteract conspiracies and corrupt activities that have undermined the good governance campaign initiated by the party’s leadership.

The Maoist Center has also announced that the assembly will urge the government to pay serious attention to matters of social justice. It aims to express support for good governance, social justice, economic development, and prosperity.

Additionally, the rally will focus on protesting political interference and politicization in public institutions, including the Nepal Electricity Authority, universities, and the bureaucracy. The party has also announced plans to take steps to control rising market prices and black-market activities.

The Maoist Center has further declared that it will raise its voice to address the issues faced by cooperative victims, meter interest victims, and microfinance victims. It aims to expose the conspiracy behind the issuance of an ordinance related to the division of political parties, which it claims seeks to lead the country into a two-party dictatorship.

The party has also stated that the rally aims to defend and promote national interests and raise awareness against the government's status quo and regressive activities.
