KATHMAND, Feb 15: President Ram Baran Yadav on Friday endorsed an ordinance against organized crime earlier forwarded by the government. According to a press statement issued by the president´s office, the ordinance was endorsed as per Article 88 (1) of the Interim Constitution.

“The ordinance has been endorsed in line with Nepal´s commitment to the international community,” said the statement. [break]

Though Nepal has already endorsed two of the three bills-- Extradition Bill and Mutual Cooperation Bill, another bill -- the bill against organized crime had failed to get parliament´s approval due to strong opposition from the Mohan Baidya-led faction of then UCPN (Maoist).

Officials said Nepal risks being placed in the grey area if it fails to endorse the other two bill soon.
