Strict action against construction delays: Ministry issues 9-point directive

The ministry instructed concerned bodies to end delays in construction works, carry out regular monitoring, and ensure mandatory submission of progress reports.

KATHMANDU, May 6: The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Transport and Urban Development has directed subordinate agencies to accelerate ongoing development projects in the current fiscal year.



In a circular issued on Tuesday, the ministry instructed concerned bodies to end delays in construction works, carry out regular monitoring, and ensure mandatory submission of progress reports. It also emphasized the need for effective coordination among agencies to promptly identify and resolve implementation issues.

The circular states that price adjustment provisions must be applied in accordance with contract documents, and any related issues should be immediately reported to the ministry.


Similarly, project chiefs and directors will be held responsible if any project remains inactive, while office heads will be made accountable if there is no significant progress at construction sites, the ministry said.
