According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Krishna Mahat, CIB Police nabbed him from his rented room located in Bouddha-6. He was ready to sell the scriptures for Rs 600,000. [break]
The 392-page Buddhist scripture has been written in Tibetan language with black ink and in some places blood, according to DSP Mahat. The Department of Archeology has confirmed that the scripture has archeological and cultural value as it is 400 to 500 years old.
However, the origin of the book couldn´t be identified. Police suspect that it might have been stolen from a monastery. But Prithivi Man has said that the scripture belong to one of his relative, who had given it to him for safekeeping.
Prithivi Man has been kept at Metropolitan Police Range Office, Hanuman Dhoka for further investigation.
