Vote counting for NBA election begins

The counting of votes from the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) election held on Saturday for the 27th Central Executive Committee began at 12 PM on Monday.

KATHMANDU, April 7: The counting of votes from the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) election held on Saturday for the 27th Central Executive Committee began at 12 PM on Monday.


Chief Election Officer Senior Advocate Ram Krishna Nirala confirmed that the vote counting is underway, as ballot boxes have already arrived at the counting station.

Out of 9,957 registered voters, about 80 percent cast their votes to elect the 25-member executive committee, with 57 candidates contesting for the positions. Voting was conducted at 36 polling centers across Kathmandu and other regions.


For the presidency, Senior Advocate Prof. Dr. Bijay Prasad Mishra represents the Broader Democratic, Progressive, Professional, Nationalist, and Inclusive Legal Practitioners' Group, while Senior Advocate Raman Kumar Shrestha represents the Professional Legal Practitioners' Group.


Senior Advocate Kedar Prasad Koirala is running for general secretary from Dr. Mishra's panel, while Advocate Yagyamani Neupane is contesting for the same post from Shrestha's panel.
