Indian national caught with over 8 kg cannabis at TIA

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Sandeep Kumbhatumola Unni, was caught during baggage screening at the airport’s customs area. Officials found 8.855 kilograms of cannabis in his luggage using an X-ray machine.

KATHMANDU, April 7: An Indian national arriving from Bangkok was arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Sunday for possessing over 8 kilograms of cannabis.


The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Sandeep Kumbhatumola Unni, was caught during baggage screening at the airport’s customs area. Officials found 8.855 kilograms of cannabis in his luggage using an X-ray machine.

He had arrived in Kathmandu on a Thai Airways flight and had been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau in Koteshwor for further investigation.
