KATHMANDU, Dec 21: The National Women Commission (NWC) has expressed serious concerns over the disrespect the cadres of the United Madhesi Democratic Front (UDMF) showed to President Bidya Devi Bhandari during her participation in the celebration of the Bibahapanchami festival at Janaki Temple, Dhanusha recently.

The NWC strongly argued that the behavior meted out to the President and the activities following her visit to the temple are uncivilized mistreatment and highly deplorable.

Such activities were inhumane, discriminatory and disrespectful to the entire women fraternity, as such activities were made against the President because she was a woman, the NWC says.

Issuing a press release today, the commission condemned the activities and urged the government to take action against the culprits.

Similarly, the commission has urged the government and protesting parties to be alert not to let such incidents occur in the days ahead. RSS
