KATHMANDU, Sept 12: Nepali Congress (NC) affiliated Nepal Students´ Union (NSU) has put off its general convention scheduled for September 14 to 16 indefinitely.

NSU President Ranjeet Karn announced to put off the general convention two day before the convention was supposed to kick off. This is the third deferral of the NSU general convention. An ad hoc committee was formed under Ranjeet Karna in March, 2012 to hold the convention within six months. [break]

Though NSU was supposed to appoint general convention representatives from all campuses by now, convention has not been held in 15 districts due to internal disputes. Likewise, conventions are yet to be held in most campuses across the country.

Karn in a statement said that they will soon hold convention in all the remaining districts, campuses and universities to elect general convention representatives. He said the decision was made as leaders of mother party NC advised them to defer the general convention.

Though Karn said that the generation convention will be held at the earliest, no date has been fixed. Sources said NSU plans to hold the convention in November if the Constituent Assembly election is not held on the scheduled date of November 19.
