KATHMANDU, July 30: Leaders of Nepal Students Union (NSU) have begun a fast-onto-death, demanding the Union's general convention as per the due process.
Cancellation of the membership of those convention representatives picked up against the Union statute, recognition to only those representatives nominated legally as per the Union's statute and holding of district conventions in the Kathmandu Valley and other remaining districts are among other demands put forth by the Nepali Congress-affiliated students' union.
NSU former central member Ganesh Sapkota and NSU Ramechhap district former Vice President Ratnahari Dhungel began the hunger strike since 4 pm Saturday at the NC central party office Sanepa.
It may be noted that prior to this, NSU former central member Sapkota had undertaken hunger strike for nine days, seeking the general convention as per the union's statute.
Likewise, NSU former treasurer Padam Raj Panta has been on a relay- hunger strike in Sanepa since July 28, demanding the general convention. RSS
