KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Medical crusader, Dr. Govinda KC has threatened of fresh fast-unto-death hunger strike if the government failed to implement the agreements of the 15th hunger strike.
KC said that he was aware of Gandaki Medical College and other medical colleges charging a high admission fee. "It is regretable to see regulatory body undermining the students' protest against illegal fees," KC said as he expressed solidarity with the students' protest.
Dr KC warns of another hunger strike
He urged the government to hold college operators accountable and resort to legal acations if they failed to abide by it.
He stated that the current situation had emerged after the government had failed to impeach Raj Narayan Patahak for meddling in the medical education sector two years ago. "It is concerning that PM KP Sharma Oli stayed silent despite knowing about Pathak's corruption case four months ago before it was exposed," the medical crusader said.
He scorned the government's decision to provide impunity to Pathak by urging him to resign. Dr. KC has also urged the government to take legal actions against Pathak and another former commissioner of CIAA, Lokman Singh Karki, and former Chief Justice, Gopal Parajuli.
Dr. KC has also expressed his concerns on the proposed Information Technology Bill and the Safety and Security Ordinance that has been registered at the parliament. He said that the proposed IT Bill would restrict the rights of the citizens.
