“The achievements of the Madhes movement would be at risk if the election scheduled for November 19 is deferred,” said Yadav, adding, “The country is currently run by technocrats. CA election is a must to bring democracy back into the country.” He also warned that the political crisis in the country would further exacerbate if the election is postponed. [break]
Speaking at an interaction in the capital on Wednesday, Yadav said, “The government, political parties and the people are all prepare for elections. Hence, the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist should also join the election process.”
Yadav also claimed that the Baidya led party poses no threat in the electoral constituencies of the Tarai districts. “They do not have the strength to foil the polls in the Tarai constituencies.” He also came down heavily on the lesser Tarai-based armed outfits, saying, “Armed outfits with organizational strength have already joined mainstream politics.”
Yadav said his party would field candidates in around 140 electoral constituencies. “We will field candidates in each constituency of Kathmandu Valley and the candidates will be of non-Madhesi origin.” Claiming that his party does not advocate caste-based politics, he said, “We are fielding candidates from different castes and ethnic groups.” He added that over two dozen candidates to contest the polls from the party will be from non-Madhesi origin.”
Yadav clarified that his party still stands in the favor of a single Madhes province. “The agreements between the government and Madhesi parties also envisage a single Madhes province,” he added.
On a different note, he said, “We feel sorry to see that the international community has labeled Nepal as a “manpower exporter”. We must stop this brain drain by creating employment opportunities at home.”
