KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang has said that there was no alternative for the parties to forming the government of national consensus in context that Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has already resigned from his post.

"The Prime Minister has resigned in line with the five-point agreement reached among the parties before the extension of the Constituent Assembly (CA) term for the second time and now the national consensus government should be formed on the same basis", he stressed.[break]

The Speaker added that the Parliamentary Special Committee formed to monitor the enforcement of the May-28 deal was doing its duty and the next government should be formed as per the same agreement.

"Unity among the parties is the need of the hour since the nation is passing through hard times", he said.
