Nine killed in road accidents across country

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Altogether nine individuals lost their lives in  road accidents  in Rukum (West), Rupandehi, Nawalparasi(East), Bara, Chitwan and Dhading districts. 

In Bara, three people died and two were injured when a bolero jeep (Ga 2 Cha 2325) and a taxi (Ba 2 Cha 2117) collided with each other along the East-West Highway on Saturday.

According to Police, the accident occurred near Bhavara River of Nijgadh Municipality. The taxi was heading towards Nijgadh from Simrik of Rautahat while the bolero was headed towards Sarlahi from Narayangadh. Three of the passengers died in the course of treatment while two others are currently under treatment at Chitwan Medical College. The taxi had plunged 10 meters down from the highway. The deceased have been identified as taxi driver Samundra Nepali and Tilak Majhi, 25, and Bishal Majhi, 25, of Nijgadh-7. Police are searching for the driver of the bolero, who is currently at large.

Similarly, Tefan BK, 26, of Bachikot Rural Municipality-3 in Rukum (West) died on the spot after his jeep (Lu 1 Ja 2686)  met with an accident in the same village on Friday evening. His five years old daughter Bimala, who was critically injured, succumbed while being taken to Nepalgunj from the district hospital.

Similarly, one more person died on Saturday when two tourist buses (Na 7 Kha 5281 and Ba 1 Pa 977) collided on Prithvi highway in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality. Ishwor Bhandari, 40, of Piple, Chitwan,  who was driving Na 7 Kha 5281 died while undergoing treatment at Gajuri Hospital. According to police, 22 injured have been admitted at Malekhu Hospital while nine more are receiving treatment at Gajuri Hospital.

In Chitwan, a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a bus on Saturday. Rameshbabu Tripathi, 29, of Rapti Municipality-1 was seriously injured and died on the way to District Hospital, Bharatpur.

In Rupandehi, a pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a motorbike (Lu 14 Pa 3758) while walking along the Mahendra Highway in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan city-12, Friday. Raj Kumar Adhikari, was taken to Lumbini Zonal Hospital following the accident and he died in course of treatment the same evening. Police have booked the motorcyclist and seized his vehicle.        

The same day, Dambar Bahadur Saru, 32, of Kawasoti Muniipality-6 of Nawalparasi (East)  sustained serious injuries after his motorbike (Lu 12 Pa 7405) went out of control on Friday. He was taken to Kaligandaki Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries the same day.
