Nilu’s scholarship for film students

KATHMANDU: Parents of director Nilu Dolma Sherpa, who passed away two weeks ago after a heart attack, have announced scholarships to students of Oscar Film College in Nilu’s memory.

KATHMANDU: Parents of director Nilu Dolma Sherpa, who passed away two weeks ago after a heart attack, have announced scholarships to students of Oscar Film College in Nilu’s memory.


The decision was jointly made by Nilu’s parents and the college on Sunday. As per the decision, a scholarship of Rs 100,000 each will be provided to three outstanding students of Oscar Film College for three years. Nilu’s mother Tsering Sherpa and Binod Poudel, executive officer of the college, signed a MoU to this effect.

Female students and sexual minorities will be prioritized for the scholarships. The scholarships will be offered to new admissions starting mid-July.


Oscar pupils in Thailand’s Lugh Film Competition

As many as six students of Oscar Film College have embarked on their journey to the Lugh Film Competition being held in Thailand.


The undergraduate students consider it a great opportunity to enter the 5thLugh Film Competition being held in Bangkok from July 19 to 28. The participating students will be divided into two groups of three.


The victorious pair will win Rs 300,000 Thai Baht, while other eight films will get Rs 30,000 Thai Baht. Oscar is the only film college affiliated to the Tribhuvan University.
