NHRC appeals for prompt rescue and free of cost treatment of quake victims

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has appealed to all concerned sides to rescue those injured in the earthquake in Jajarkot and Rukum West districts and arrange free and effective treatment for them.

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has appealed to all concerned sides to rescue those injured in the earthquake in Jajarkot and Rukum West districts and arrange free and effective treatment for them.


The NHRC urged all including the government, political parties to engage in relief and rescue operations of the quake-affected people.

A press release issued by NHRC Spokesperson Tika Ram Pokharel on Saturday reads, "The NHRC urges all concerned sides including the government and the political parties to rescue the injured ones, make arrangements for free and effective treatment and engage in rescue and relief operations."


The NHRC has been deeply saddened by the loss of lives and physical property caused by the earthquake in Jajrkot and Rukum West districts on Friday night, reads the statement.


Extending tribute to those killed in the earthquake, the NHRC extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. It has also started monitoring the quake-hit districts.


A team of the Karnali Province office of the NHRC on Saturday left for the quake-affected areas to monitor the human rights condition of quake-affected people.
