Newly appointed IGP Thapa presented with insignia

The newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Nepal Police, Deepak Thapa, has been conferred with the insignia of the police chief. A cabinet meeting held on Monday appointed him as the 31st IGP.

KATHMANDU, March 18: The newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Nepal Police, Deepak Thapa, has been conferred with the insignia of the police chief. A cabinet meeting held on Monday appointed him as the 31st IGP. 


Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi presented the insignia to Thapa on Tuesday. After receiving the insignia, the newly appointed IGP Thapa stated that he is ready to begin his work in the police force.He also urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to play a coordinating role.

Thapa is set to assume office starting today.


Born on November 24, 1971 in Sipadol, Bhaktapur, Thapa holds a bachelor's degree in law and master's degrees in political science and public administration. After joining the police service on September 4, 1995, as an inspector, he initially led the area police offices in Banepa, Butwal and Garuda.
