New statute promulgated on May 29: UML secy Gyawali

NAWALPARASI, March 22: CPN-UML secretary Pradip Gyawali has said that the constitution drafting process would begin from March 29, with the target of promulgating the new constitution on May 29.

At a press meet organized by the Press Chautari Nepal here on Sunday, he said that the opposition alliance was against the constitution drafting process therefore waiting for them would be meaningless. He further said that the minority could not dictate the majority and it was not the spirit of the democracy. New schedule would come out in the constituent assembly (CA) and that would resume the obstructed process, leader Gyawali added.He also said that the major disputes were related to ethnicity-based federalism but it was not the solution for marginalized and subaltern people. Gyawali said that the disputed issues of federalism could be resolved by forming a commission if the opposition alliance was responsible for the constitution drafting process. RSS
