KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday increased by a whopping 56.09 points to close at 2,653.58 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,597.49 points and fell to the day’s low at 2,583.79 points in the first 20 minutes. The market then escalated to 2,617.64 points in the next two hours, while the index remained almost stable for another one hour. The market gained an additional 33 points in the remaining 50 minutes before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, rose by 9.75 points. The daily turnover, however, declined to Rs 6.13 billion from Rs 6.77 billion on Wednesday.


Among individual companies, 219 were gainers whereas 23 companies were recorded as the losers.


All the 13 groups witnessed their indices inclined in the intraday trading. Manufacturing and processing group escalated 219.76 points, the biggest of all. A total of six groups had their market values inclined by three-digit points.


Sahas Urja Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 638.35 million. Nyadi Hydropower Limited was the topmost gainer, while Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 10 percent of its market price.
